aPower 2 is FranklinWH’s current AC-coupled home battery. Each unit provides 15 kWh of usable storage with up to 10 kW continuous battery output and is designed for whole-home backup, solar energy storage and energy management.
The current aPower 2 platform can scale to as many as 15 batteries per aGate, providing up to 225 kWh of storage. The practical quantity depends on electrical loads, available space, outage goals, solar production and project requirements.
It can provide whole-home backup for some homes, but proper design requires a load study. Large residences with multiple HVAC systems, pumps, electric cooking, EV charging or other high-demand loads may need multiple batteries or managed loads.
The aGate is the central energy controller. It manages power flow between the grid, solar, batteries, generators and home loads and manages the transition between normal utility operation and backup operation.
Yes. aPower 2 is AC-coupled and works with major solar inverter platforms, making it well suited to many existing-solar retrofits. FranklinWH also offers aPower S for projects that benefit from direct solar connection in a new or redesigned PV system.
