The Small Aperture Series exists for rooms where a standard in-ceiling grille would be the largest visual element in the ceiling plane. The line runs SA42-4, SA63-4, SA63-7, SA63-8, SA68, SA853QT-6 and SA853QT-9, with matched subwoofers in the SA54-4-SUB, SA81-9-SUB and SA101-SUB. The design uses a modular tweeter and midrange arrangement with a built-in woofer, so the configuration can be matched to the room rather than accepting one fixed driver package everywhere. Trim accessories cover a range of styles and finishes so the visible opening resolves into the ceiling detail instead of interrupting it. The SA68 is the one to know for coastal and pool-adjacent work: marine-grade construction, thin-ply drivers and eight finish options. On Peninsula and Carmel projects where a covered terrace sits within reach of salt air, that construction difference is the reason the speaker is still working in year eight.
Hidden bass is usually where a discreet audio design gives up. The redesigned PowerPipe X Series is the current answer: eight models across 8, 10, 12 and 15 inch drivers, in both MDF and marine-rated versions. The larger models extend into the high 20Hz range, which is usable low-frequency output rather than a marketing figure, while the visible portion of the system can be as subtle as an HVAC-style vent or a toe-kick trim. What makes this practical rather than theoretical is the shorter, more maneuverable pipe design and expanded trim compatibility in the current generation. Modern construction rarely offers the cavity depth that earlier hidden-subwoofer concepts assumed. Regent5 coordinates pipe routing, termination and trim location during preconstruction, alongside the framing and mechanical trades, because the decision about where bass can physically go is made long before anyone selects a finish.
For in-wall applications the current QX Quadratech Series runs QX530QT, QX630QT, QX830QT and QX-SPL5QT, the last of which consolidates the previous QX-SPL3 and QX-SPL5 into a single model. The series pairs James' Quadratech tweeter with the CDX crossover system to hold frequency response and coverage consistent on and off axis, which in a real room means the seat at the end of the sofa hears substantially what the center seat hears. Dedicated theaters move to the BE MKII line: BE806 MKII, QX-BE806 MKII, BE808 MKII and BE812 MKII. These are voiced neutrally on purpose. When a speaker arrives neutral, calibration time goes into correcting the room rather than correcting the loudspeaker, and the result is a theater that behaves predictably after the acoustic treatment and seating are in place.
The Wedge X and WX Series are corner-mount outdoor speakers, redesigned in the current generation for easier installation and more secure grille retention. On estate grounds they tuck into soffit and eave corners where a conventional outdoor cabinet would read as equipment. Because nearly every James product can be built marine grade, the same design language carries from a covered terrace through to pool areas and dock structures without switching to a different visual family. Regent5 designs outdoor audio alongside landscape lighting, outdoor WiFi and exterior power, because those systems share the same trenching, conduit and transformer decisions. Coordinating them as one scope is what keeps a finished landscape from being reopened.
James operates an in-house machine shop, master carpentry shop, fabrication, testing, powder-coating and finishing under one roof in Minden, Nevada, and nearly every product in the catalog is made to order there. That matters in practice rather than as provenance: almost anything in the line can be built in 70V or marine grade, and James will adapt dimensions, finishes and grille material to a specific project. For Regent5 that means a speaker can follow the architecture instead of the architecture accommodating a stock part. A grille finished to match a specific millwork lacquer, an enclosure sized to a non-standard joist bay, a soundbar cut to the width of a particular cabinet opening. These are specified during design development, because build-to-order lead times belong in the construction schedule, not in a punch list.
Loudspeakers are the visible half of the decision. James systems are passive and need amplification and distribution designed around the actual load, the run lengths and the number of zones, and Regent5 specifies that alongside the speakers rather than after them. Sources and control come from the platform the rest of the house already uses, whether that is Savant, Control4, Crestron or a Sonos or Bluesound streaming layer feeding architectural zones. The network underneath matters as much as the amplifier. Streaming zones, control processors and touchscreens all depend on wired backhaul wherever a cable can reach, because most audio faults that present as software problems are network problems. Our C10 electrical crew and C7 low-voltage crew work under one license, so speaker locations, amplifier power, rack cooling and cable pathways are resolved as one scope.
James is easiest to get right before drywall. Aperture locations, blocking, backboxes, pipe routing for hidden subwoofers and trim details all need to be coordinated against the reflected ceiling plan and the millwork drawings while changes are still inexpensive. Regent5 provides CAD layouts and coordinates directly with architects, interior designers and general contractors from early plan sets. After commissioning, a dedicated service team supports the system, with response times ranging from a few hours up to one to two business days depending on distance and priority. We service existing James and Sonance systems regardless of who installed them, including systems inherited with a home purchase. Clients and design teams can hear architectural audio alongside working lighting and shading systems at our San Carlos design center.

One dealer relationship, two complementary lines: Sonance for architectural and invisible audio, James for built-to-order everything else. This is what a properly specified system draws from.
A complete three-way speaker system lives above the ceiling and speaks through an opening sized and trimmed to match the downlights, with modular tweeter and midrange configurations matched to the room.
Eight models across 8, 10, 12 and 15 inch drivers, with the larger models reaching into the high 20Hz range while the visible portion is an HVAC-style vent or a toe-kick trim.
Sonance Invisible Series installs behind plaster, paint, wallpaper or wood veneer, from the IS6 to the IS10 with invisible subwoofers, and carries a fifteen-year warranty when installed by an authorized dealer.
Machine shop, carpentry, fabrication, testing, powder-coating and finishing under one roof, so dimensions, finishes and grille material adapt to the project instead of the other way around.
Nearly the entire James catalog can be ordered in marine grade or 70V, and the SA68 pairs marine-grade construction with thin-ply drivers and eight finishes for salt-air locations.
The dedicated in-wall theater line pairs the CDX crossover with neutral voicing, so calibration time goes into correcting the room rather than correcting the loudspeaker.
Soundbars built to the width of a specific television or cabinet opening, including adjustable-width models, so the media wall reads as millwork rather than equipment.
Wedge X corner speakers tuck into soffits and eaves, while Sonance garden speakers and James landscape models with buried subwoofers disappear into the planting.
Zones are fed from Savant, Control4 or Crestron, or a Sonos or Bluesound streaming layer, with amplification and distribution sized by Regent5 to the actual load and run lengths.
Regent5 services existing James and Sonance systems regardless of who installed them, including systems inherited with a home purchase, and brings documentation and network health up to standard.
Regent5 is an authorized Sonance dealer and carries the full Sonance catalog, which includes James Loudspeaker as its built-to-order line. We design, install, program and service James systems across Northern California.
It delivers full-range output through a much smaller ceiling opening, using a modular tweeter and midrange design with a built-in woofer. The point is to keep the ceiling plane clean in rooms where the architecture and lighting layout come first.
Yes. The PowerPipe X Series runs eight models across 8, 10, 12 and 15 inch drivers, with the larger models reaching into the high 20Hz range while the visible portion can be an HVAC-style vent or toe-kick trim. It needs to be planned during preconstruction, since the pipe routing has to be coordinated with framing and mechanical.
Nearly the entire catalog can be built marine grade, and the SA68 in the Small Aperture line uses marine-grade construction with thin-ply drivers and eight finishes. This matters on Carmel, Pebble Beach and Tiburon projects and on any pool or terrace installation.
Yes. James manufactures to order in Minden, Nevada and will adapt dimensions, finishes and grille material for a specific project, including custom-width soundbars. Those decisions belong in design development so the lead time sits inside the construction schedule.
James Loudspeaker is now James by Sonance, the built-to-order line within the Sonance catalog. Sonance covers architectural speakers including the Invisible Series, while James adds made-to-order construction from its Minden, Nevada facility, where nearly every product can be adapted in dimensions, finish and grille material. Regent5 carries both under one Sonance dealer relationship.
Small Aperture in-ceiling systems, the QX Quadratech in-wall series, BE MKII theater speakers, PowerPipe X hidden subwoofers, Wedge X and WX outdoor speakers, VXQ and QXC in-ceiling models, PD pendant speakers, and custom-width soundbars built to match a specific television or cabinet. Nearly the entire catalog can be ordered in 70V or marine grade.
Yes. Sonance Invisible Series speakers install inside the wall or ceiling and are finished over with plaster, paint, wallpaper or wood veneer, so nothing is visible in the room. The range runs from the IS6 to the IS10, with invisible subwoofers extending the low end, and carries a fifteen-year warranty when installed by an authorized dealer. Where a small visible aperture is acceptable, James Small Aperture delivers full-range sound through an opening sized to match the downlights.
Yes. James builds soundbars to order, including adjustable and custom-width models sized to a specific television or millwork opening, and the BE MKII line covers dedicated in-wall theater speakers. Regent5 designs the full theater around them: acoustics, amplification, calibration and seating.
