UTILITY APPLICATION WORKFLOW

From service availability through energization.

1. Define the load

Establish panel size, voltage, calculated demand and future requirements, then identify whether the project needs an increase in load, change of service, voltage change or other utility action.

2. Assemble documents

Prepare the site plan, one-line diagram, equipment locations, maps and other project information required for utility engineering review.

3. Coordinate design

Resolve transformer, meter, service route, underground infrastructure, switchgear and applicant-side work as the utility develops its design.

4. Build + energize

Coordinate trenching, conduit, service equipment, inspections, disconnect/reconnect, utility construction and final energization with the GC schedule.

PG&E PROJECT LANGUAGE

Use the same vocabulary the utility uses.

Large service projects may involve PG&E Building & Renovation, Your Projects, service availability, increase load, upgrade or change service, electric voltage change, Engineering Advance, Applicant Design, Applicant Install and current Greenbook requirements. Regent5 uses these terms to structure project coordination while keeping utility-owned work and customer-owned work clearly separated.

PALO ALTO IS DIFFERENT

City of Palo Alto Utilities—not PG&E—governs electric service upgrades in Palo Alto.

Palo Alto’s electric utility publishes its own Electric Service Requirements, so service upgrades there should be scoped and described as CPAU projects. Regent5’s site language and project planning should not imply that PG&E provides electric service where the City of Palo Alto Utilities does.
