Where the selected equipment supports integration, exterior shades and pergolas can be coordinated with Lutron, Savant, Control4 or Crestron scenes so a terrace can move from midday sun control to an evening entertainment mode that also adjusts lighting, heaters and audio.

Exterior motorized systems need early decisions about pockets, housings, blocking, wind exposure, drainage, electrical rough-in, service access and control locations.
