RadioRA 3 is Lutron’s professionally installed wireless lighting-control platform for renovations and existing homes. Supported devices communicate over Lutron Clear Connect rather than ordinary Wi-Fi, allowing whole-home scenes, schedules, keypads and compatible shades without converting the property to a centralized panelized wiring architecture. Existing wiring, wall boxes, loads and RF coverage still need to be surveyed before the system is specified.
RadioRA 3 is often a strong fit when a home is already finished, when preserving plaster or millwork matters, or when a renovation needs professional whole-home lighting control without a panelized rewire. It can also work well for additions, guest houses and distributed-device designs. For large ground-up estates with open walls, centralized loads, extensive wired keypads or the broadest Lutron luxury portfolio, HomeWorks QSX may be the better architecture.

A bedroom or kitchen can come up gently with selected shade positions and warm light rather than every circuit returning to full output.

Scene names should match household behavior. Regent5 keeps the keypad vocabulary short and programs the underlying device logic behind it.
RadioRA 3 is designed around Sunnata RF controls and also supports many compatible RadioRA 2 devices during upgrades. Regent5 coordinates dimmers, switches, keypads, Pico controls, compatible Lutron shades and Lumaris intelligent lighting into one scene strategy. Device compatibility is checked by model and system generation before anything is ordered.
Lutron provides a migration path from eligible RadioRA 2 and RA2 Select systems to RadioRA 3. The existing project can be converted in Lutron Designer after the RadioRA 3 processor replaces the prior main-repeater architecture, and many installed dimmers, seeTouch keypads, Pico controls, sensors and Lutron shades can remain when supported. Some devices are not compatible, so Regent5 inventories the project before defining the upgrade scope.
RadioRA 3 uses Lutron’s dedicated Clear Connect wireless technology for lighting and control devices. The home network supports the processor and app, but the lighting system is not built from ordinary Wi-Fi switches.
That distinction matters in finished homes: Regent5 can add professional whole-home lighting control without making every lighting device dependent on the Wi-Fi network or cloud for basic operation.

Regent5 does not force every project onto the same platform. We match the Lutron architecture to the home, wiring, lighting design and service expectations.
RadioRA 3 can coordinate room and whole-home scenes, schedules, occupancy logic, app control and supported automation integrations. Regent5 programs those features around household routines rather than exposing individual loads everywhere, so commands such as Welcome, Entertain, Away and Goodnight can coordinate lighting and compatible shades from a small number of controls.
We survey first. Existing switch locations, box depths, neutral availability, load types, and fixture compatibility all determine what is possible and what needs a workaround. LED dimming compatibility is the one that catches people out: an inexpensive driver that flickers at low level will flicker regardless of how good the dimmer is, and finding that out after installation is nobody's idea of a good outcome. We check the actual fixtures against Lutron's compatibility data before quoting. Wall boxes are the other constraint. Some devices need more depth than a shallow old box provides, and that is worth knowing before demolition rather than during it.
