Regent5 is a certified Lutron dealer and a C10 and C7 licensed contractor, CSLB License 1033103. We design, install, and service Lutron RadioRA 3 for homes in Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley, Hillsborough, Los Altos Hills, Los Altos, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and San Francisco. RadioRA 3 is the wireless platform, and the distinction that matters is where control happens. HomeWorks QSX controls loads at a panel, which requires every circuit to be home run and walls to be open. RadioRA 3 controls loads at the device in the wall, communicating back to a processor over Lutron Clear Connect. That means a finished house with plaster you do not want to touch can get real lighting control, scenes, schedules, keypads, and shade integration, without a rewire.
Three situations come up repeatedly on the Peninsula. A period house in Pacific Heights or Ross where the plaster, panelling, or wallpaper makes opening walls unthinkable. A recently finished house where the owner discovers after moving in that switch legs and scenes were never planned, and a rewire is out of the question. And a guest house, pool house, or wing added to an estate that already runs HomeWorks, where a full panel is not warranted. RadioRA 3 handles all three. It also scales further than people expect, so it is not only a small house system. Where it is not the answer is a large new build with walls open, where a panelised QSX system will be more capable, more serviceable, and better value over the life of the house.
RadioRA 3 runs seeTouch keypads in wall, hybrid, and tabletop versions with engraved buttons, and Sunnata keypads, which are the ones we usually reach for on retrofit. Sunnata buttons are field swappable, so a layout can be changed without ordering new hardware, and an LED light bar makes the keypad findable in a dark room. Pico remotes add control points anywhere without opening a wall, on a bedside table, a pedestal, a wall bracket, or in a car visor. On the load side it drives Maestro dimmers, switches, and fan controls, and it carries Lutron shading including Triathlon, which is battery powered and needs no shade wiring at all. A Triathlon shade and a RadioRA 3 system together mean a finished room can get motorized shading with no cabling anywhere.
RadioRA 2 is now classified by Lutron as a legacy system, and RadioRA 3 is backwards compatible with both RadioRA 2 and RA2 Select. The conversion replaces the main repeater and connect bridge with a RadioRA 3 processor, then converts the existing project file in Lutron Designer so the original programming carries forward rather than being rebuilt from nothing. Most installed hardware stays on the wall: Maestro dimmers, switches, and fan controls, seeTouch keypads including hybrid and tabletop, Pico remotes, Lutron shading, Radio Powr Savr sensors, RF and plug-in modules, and the visor control receiver. GRAFIK Eye QS wireless units and GRAFIK T keypads do not carry over, and we identify and price those before work starts. One thing worth knowing: factory resetting the RadioRA 2 main repeater on site will factory default every wireless device in the system, and each one then has to be reactivated individually. On a large house that turns an afternoon into several days.
Everything that makes a wired system worth having is available here. Scenes assign every circuit its own level and fade, recalled from one button. Schedules run on sun events rather than clock time, because the processor calculates sunrise, sunset, civil dawn, and civil dusk from the location of the house and stays correct across the year without adjustment. Occupancy and vacancy sensing is available through Radio Powr Savr. Voice works through Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant, and Regent5 is a Josh.AI dealer for natural language rather than fixed phrases. As with any platform, voice sits on top of the scenes we program, so how good it feels depends entirely on how well the underlying scenes were designed.
We survey first. Existing switch locations, box depths, neutral availability, load types, and fixture compatibility all determine what is possible and what needs a workaround. LED dimming compatibility is the one that catches people out: an inexpensive driver that flickers at low level will flicker regardless of how good the dimmer is, and finding that out after installation is nobody's idea of a good outcome. We check the actual fixtures against Lutron's compatibility data before quoting. Wall boxes are the other constraint. Some devices need more depth than a shallow old box provides, and that is worth knowing before demolition rather than during it.
Regent5 designs, installs, and services Lutron RadioRA 3 in Atherton, Woodside, Portola Valley, Hillsborough, Los Altos Hills, Los Altos, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto, in San Francisco including Pacific Heights and Seacliff, and in Saratoga, Los Gatos, Campbell, Ross, Tiburon, Belvedere, Napa, Sonoma, Carmel, and Pebble Beach. Keypads and finishes that run on RadioRA 3 are on display and operating in our San Carlos design center. Our office and design center is at 1300 Industrial Rd, Suite 12, San Carlos, CA 94070.

Yes, that is what RadioRA 3 exists for. It controls the load at the device in the wall and communicates back to a processor over Lutron Clear Connect, so a finished house with plaster, panelling, or wallcovering you do not want to touch can get scenes, schedules, keypads, and shade integration without opening walls.
Choose RadioRA 3 when the house is finished and a rewire is not on the table: a period house where opening walls is unthinkable, a recently completed house where scenes were never planned, or a guest house or wing added to an estate that already runs HomeWorks.
Choose QSX on a large new build or major remodel with walls open. A panelised system will be more capable, more serviceable, and better value over the life of the house.
Yes, including Triathlon, which is battery powered and needs no shade wiring at all. A Triathlon shade on a RadioRA 3 system means a finished room can get motorized shading with no cabling anywhere, which is frequently the deciding factor in a retrofit.

This is the question worth asking before anything is ordered. An inexpensive driver that flickers at low level will flicker regardless of how good the dimmer is. We check the actual fixtures against Lutron compatibility data before quoting, rather than finding out after installation.
